If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I am utterly devoted, compulsively in love with bright colors, specifically the color pink. Designer Debut: Tom Binns

With a collection that would suit Cyndi Lauper just as well as it would delight Bette Davis, famed designer Tom Binns has officially launched on Charm & Chain today! The CFDA award winner is well-known for his irreverent jewelry, avant-garde aesthetic, and massive celebrity following. I have personally been a longtime admirer of Tom Binns, who, season after season, amazes me with the unexpected elements he adds to almost every piece he creates. Binns creates absolute showstoppers from the start and then adds a whimsical dash of the unusual, like bright and playful cameos dripping from elegant statement necklaces and splattered neon paint on crystal chandelier earrings.

Another Fashion Week means another opportunity to ogle over the gorgeous jewels show-goers selected to complete their meticulously thought-out ensembles. Unlike the fashion-friendly week of September’s spring shows, this February brought a few days of extreme cold and snow and forced attendees to rethink their sartorial plans. Fortunately for us, the fashion folk are a brave bunch and most were generous enough to leave their coats unbuttoned for our jewelry viewing pleasure. The findings? Statement necklaces continue to rule, cuffs can be worn solo or in pairs, ear pieces are still in and rings can venture beyond the first knuckle. Check out some of our favorite pieces below:

What better a way for Charm & Chain to kick off Fashion Week than with an interview between me and reigning Queen of Accessorizing (and C&C designer), Rachel Zoe? Famous for her career as Hollywood’s premier stylist, Rachel Zoe is the author of “Style A to Zoe: The Art of Fashion, Beauty, and Everything Glamour,” stars in her own Bravo reality TV series, “The Zoe Project,” and owns Zoe Media Group, which sends out daily newsletters with style and fashion tips. Her clothing and jewelry line launched last year to rave reviews, and her iconic style is emblematic of Rachel’s pioneering role in today’s world of edgy and modern fashion trends. Her namesake jewelry collection debuted on Charm & Chain this November, and represents Zoe’s affection for bold, Art Deco-inspired style. Naturally, when we had the opportunity to talk to Rachel, we snagged it and asked her some of our burning jewelry & style questions…enjoy!

C&C: Rachel, you’re a confessed vintage junkie. How did you become such an expert? Any tips for identifying good vintage design and items? What is your most memorable vintage find to date and why?

RZ: Scouring vintage boutiques, flea markets and thrift shops is a great way to get a sense of what’s out there. That’s really the best way to train your eye to recognize special pieces. I have some really special Miriam Haskell pieces from my Mom. There is this one pair of earrings made entirely of lucite that I’m obsessed with.

C&C: Can you give us a hint about your upcoming Fall jewelry collection? Any trends you’ll be focusing on for your next season?

RZ: I will always love Art Deco jewelry and use it as inspiration for my own collections!

C&C: We know you love costume jewelry—you showcase many of our designers on Charm & Chain often in The Zoe Report and AccessZOEries. But beyond costume jewelry, what are the top three jewelry investment pieces you recommend for all women?
 And given that’s it’s around the corner, what’s the most romantic Valentine’s Day gift you can imagine?

RZ: A Cartier love bracelet, an Hermes Collier de Chien, and a Rolex Daytona. The most romantic Valentine’s Day gift? Anything in an orange Hermes box!

C&C: Nowadays, there’s such an emphasis on Street Style and what happens off the runway during Fashion Week. When you think of someone who has great street style, what comes to mind? Is it more about the clothing or the accessories?

RZ: When I think of street style, I love anyone who looks effortless. Even a simple white tee and jeans with the perfect pendant necklace or cocktail ring is so chic.

C&C: We’ve loved seeing your son Skyler grow up to be the well-dressed little toddler he is today! Did becoming a mother change the way you look at dressing in any way?

RZ: Completely! I wear so much more black now that I’m a mom.

C&C: We’re totally obsessed with all the pieces in your new jewelry collection. The designs are so wearable, and the quality is top-notch. If you had to pick a favorite piece, which would it be?

RZ: I’ve worn my Crystal Circle Ring day and night since the second I got it– it’s totally one of my wardrobe staples!
